Terms of Service, Cancellation & Refund Policy
Effective date: July 18, 2026
These Terms of Service, Cancellation & Refund Policy govern the purchase and use of lessons, tutoring sessions, technology assistance, English as a Second Language classes, and other services offered by Simple Tech Lessons (“Simple Tech Lessons,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By booking, purchasing, attending, or participating in a session, the customer, student, parent, or legal guardian (“you” or “your”) confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to these terms.
1. Services
Simple Tech Lessons provides educational and instructional services, including:
- One-on-one technology tutoring
- Computer, smartphone, internet, and software instruction
- English as a Second Language classes
- Online tutoring and educational sessions
- Related technology guidance and training
The exact subject, duration, instructor, price, date, and time of each session are displayed during booking and in the confirmation email.
We may modify, replace, or discontinue a service when reasonably necessary.
2. Booking and payment
Appointments are not confirmed until all required information and payment have been successfully submitted.
Prices are displayed before payment. Unless otherwise stated, payment is due in full when the appointment is booked.
Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers such as Stripe. Simple Tech Lessons does not directly store complete credit-card numbers.
Customers are responsible for providing accurate:
- Names and contact information
- Email addresses and telephone numbers
- Appointment selections
- Time-zone information
- Payment information
- Information about the requested lesson or assistance
Simple Tech Lessons is not responsible for missed communications resulting from incorrect or incomplete information supplied by the customer.
3. Cancellation and rescheduling policy
More than 24 hours before the session
A customer may cancel or reschedule an appointment without penalty when the request is successfully submitted at least 24 hours before the scheduled starting time.
Eligible cancellations may receive either:
- A refund to the original payment method; or
- A credit or rescheduled appointment, when agreed upon by the customer and Simple Tech Lessons.
Refund processing time depends on the payment provider and the customer’s financial institution.
Less than 24 hours before the session
Cancellations or rescheduling requests made less than 24 hours before the scheduled starting time are not eligible for a refund.
The amount paid will be retained to compensate the instructor for the time that was reserved and could not reasonably be offered to another customer.
No-shows
Failure to attend a scheduled session without canceling at least 24 hours in advance is considered a no-show.
No-shows are non-refundable and are not automatically eligible for account credit or rescheduling.
How to cancel or reschedule
Customers should cancel or reschedule through the Simple Tech Lessons Customer Portal using the secure link provided in their confirmation email.
A cancellation is effective only after:
- The cancellation has been successfully submitted through the Customer Portal; or
- Simple Tech Lessons has provided written confirmation that an emailed cancellation request was received.
Leaving a voicemail, sending a message to an instructor’s personal account, or failing to join the online meeting does not automatically constitute a confirmed cancellation.
The 24-hour period is measured from the appointment’s scheduled starting time in the time zone displayed during booking and in the confirmation email.
Exceptions
Simple Tech Lessons may make exceptions for genuine emergencies at its discretion. An exception provided on one occasion does not require Simple Tech Lessons to provide the same exception in the future.
4. Cancellations by Simple Tech Lessons
When Simple Tech Lessons or the assigned instructor must cancel a session, the customer will be offered:
- A replacement appointment at no additional cost; or
- A full refund for the affected session.
Simple Tech Lessons is not responsible for additional indirect expenses incurred by the customer, such as lost work time, childcare costs, travel expenses, or third-party fees.
5. Late arrivals
Customers should join online sessions or arrive for scheduled services on time.
If a customer arrives late:
- The session will normally end at the originally scheduled ending time.
- The instructor is not required to extend the session.
- The session price will not be reduced.
- A sufficiently late arrival may be treated as a no-show.
If the instructor is late, the customer will receive the full purchased session time or an appropriate replacement arrangement.
6. Internet, equipment, and technical requirements
For online sessions, customers are responsible for having:
- A functioning computer, tablet, or compatible device
- A stable internet connection
- A working microphone and speakers
- A compatible web browser or Zoom application
- Any required account credentials or software
- A safe and suitable learning environment
Customers should test their equipment before the session.
Internet outages, device failures, forgotten passwords, software problems, or other technical issues originating on the customer’s side do not automatically qualify for a refund.
When a session cannot reasonably proceed because of a technical failure caused by Simple Tech Lessons, we will offer a reasonable extension, replacement appointment, credit, or refund.
7. Technology-support responsibilities
Before receiving assistance involving a computer, smartphone, cloud account, website, email account, or other system, the customer confirms that they own the device or account or have authorization from its owner.
Customers are responsible for:
- Maintaining current backups
- Protecting passwords and authentication codes
- Reviewing changes made during instruction
- Maintaining software licenses
- Following security recommendations
- Confirming that requested actions are authorized
Simple Tech Lessons will use reasonable care but cannot guarantee that technology assistance will prevent all data loss, account problems, malware, software conflicts, hardware failures, or service interruptions.
Customers should not send passwords, credit-card numbers, Social Security numbers, or other highly sensitive information through ordinary email.
8. Educational disclaimer
Simple Tech Lessons provides educational instruction and general technology guidance.
We do not guarantee:
- A specific level of English proficiency
- Employment, academic, certification, or examination results
- Mastery of a particular skill within a specific period
- Permanent resolution of every technology problem
- Compatibility with every device, program, or third-party service
Results vary based on attendance, effort, practice, prior knowledge, equipment, and circumstances outside our control.
Our services are not a substitute for legal, medical, financial, cybersecurity-forensic, or other licensed professional advice.
9. Minors
Customers under 18 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.
The parent or guardian is responsible for:
- Booking and paying for the service
- Reviewing and accepting these terms
- Providing accurate information
- Supervising the minor when appropriate
- Ensuring an appropriate online learning environment
Children under 13 may not independently submit personal information or create bookings. A parent or legal guardian must submit the booking and provide any legally required consent.
Federal COPPA requirements can apply when an online service collects personal information from children under 13, including when the operator has actual knowledge of the child’s age.
10. Conduct
Customers and participants must behave respectfully toward instructors, employees, and other participants.
The following are prohibited:
- Harassment, threats, intimidation, or discriminatory abuse
- Sexual or otherwise inappropriate behavior
- Recording without permission
- Disrupting a class or interfering with other participants
- Attempting to gain unauthorized access to systems or accounts
- Requesting assistance with illegal, fraudulent, or harmful activity
- Sharing unlawful, malicious, or infringing materials
Simple Tech Lessons may immediately end a session when continued participation presents a safety, security, legal, or harassment concern.
A session terminated because of serious customer misconduct is not eligible for a refund.
Nothing in these terms prohibits a customer from posting an honest review or reporting a legitimate concern. Federal law restricts businesses from using standard contract terms that penalize consumers for honest reviews.
11. Zoom and third-party services
Sessions may use Zoom, Stripe, Microsoft, Google, WordPress, Amelia, or other third-party platforms.
Use of those services may also be governed by the provider’s own terms and privacy practices.
Simple Tech Lessons is not responsible for outages, account restrictions, security incidents, policy changes, or other failures caused solely by an independent third-party provider. We will make reasonable efforts to provide an alternative when a third-party outage prevents a scheduled session.
12. Recording sessions
Customers may not record audio, video, screens, or conversations during a session without prior written permission from Simple Tech Lessons and all participants.
Simple Tech Lessons will not intentionally record a private session without providing notice and obtaining any consent required by applicable law.
13. Intellectual property
Lesson plans, instructional materials, videos, worksheets, graphics, written guides, website content, and other materials created by Simple Tech Lessons remain the property of Simple Tech Lessons or the applicable rights holder.
Customers receive a limited, personal, non-transferable right to use provided materials for their own education.
Customers may not reproduce, resell, publish, distribute, upload, or commercially exploit those materials without written permission.
14. Privacy
Simple Tech Lessons may collect information reasonably necessary to operate the website and provide services, including names, email addresses, telephone numbers, booking details, selected subjects, payment status, and appointment history.
Our handling of personal information is also governed by our separate Privacy Policy.
Customers should review that Privacy Policy before booking. New Jersey’s privacy framework provides consumer rights concerning certain collection and use of personal data where the law applies.
15. Payment disputes and chargebacks
Customers should contact Simple Tech Lessons promptly when they believe a charge is incorrect or a promised service was not provided.
Initiating a chargeback does not automatically invalidate these terms or the cancellation policy. We may provide the payment processor with booking records, acceptance records, emails, attendance information, cancellation timestamps, and other relevant documentation.
Nothing in this section limits any consumer right that cannot legally be waived.
16. Disclaimer of warranties
Services are provided using reasonable care and professional effort. Except for rights or warranties that cannot legally be excluded, services and website content are provided without additional express or implied warranties.
Simple Tech Lessons does not warrant that every device, account, website, application, or technology problem can be repaired or resolved.
17. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Simple Tech Lessons will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential losses resulting from the use of, or inability to use, our services.
This may include loss of data, profits, business opportunities, access to accounts, or interruption of third-party services.
Where liability cannot legally be excluded, Simple Tech Lessons’ total liability relating to a particular paid session will not exceed the amount paid for that session.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
18. Force majeure
Simple Tech Lessons will not be considered in breach of these terms when performance is prevented or materially delayed by circumstances reasonably outside our control, including severe weather, natural disasters, widespread internet or utility outages, illness, government action, civil emergencies, or major third-party service failures.
We will make reasonable efforts to reschedule or provide another appropriate remedy.
19. Changes to these terms
Simple Tech Lessons may update these terms when business practices, services, technology, or legal requirements change.
The updated policy will be posted on the website with a revised effective date. The version accepted when a booking is made will generally govern that booking unless applicable law requires otherwise.
20. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be handled in a court with appropriate jurisdiction, subject to any rights that applicable consumer law provides.
21. Severability
If any portion of these terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining portions will continue in effect to the fullest extent permitted by law.
